ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 7, 2006) -- Ohio University is proud to present a gallery showing of "A Water Color Perspective," showcasing many artistic works created by famed local artist L.W. "Bill" Rettig, Jr. Ohio University Eastern will celebrate this special occasion with a gallery reception on the evening of Thursday, Feb 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery. The reception will provide the public an opportunity to meet and talk with Rettig about his art work.
Ohio University Eastern is proud to display the works of such a talented artist with local roots. We invite students, alumni, and the public to experience the gallery showing of "A Water Color Perspective."
"Rettig's paintings display a combination of skill and excitement that will appeal to everyone who sees them," said Jan Chambers, assistant dean for Development at the Ohio University Eastern Campus.
Rettig's creations are part of many private and commercial collections. Corporations such as Mellon Bank, Citizen National Bank, Omega and Pennsylvania State University proudly display his work in their corporate offices and business locations.
A former Pennsylvania State University fullback and linebacker, Rettig has experienced an extraordinary artistic career. While mostly self taught, he has studied water color and pencil with a variety of professionals during his many years as an artist. His industry and talent have been recognized with numerous regional and national artistic awards in major galleries in cities such as Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Harrisburg and Cleveland.
Rettig currently resides in Wheeling, W.Va., with his wife. The gallery showing of L.W. "Bill" Rettig "A Water Color Perspective" will be on display in the Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery from Feb. 13 through March 9.
