Parking lot adjustments for move-in weekend

ATHENS, Ohio (Aug. 23, 2006) -- Students will soon be arriving to begin fall quarter.  Move-in is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 4.  With so many students attempting to move in during such a small time frame, parking adjustments must be made.  The following lots will be affected:

Lots 18, 19 and 20 (Lasher/Haning area)

-- Students moving into Bromley Hall are faced with little or no parking in this area to utilize while unloading their vehicles.  Therefore, lots 18, 19 and 20 will be considered temporary unloading areas during move-in. Vehicles without the appropriate lot permit will be given 30 minutes to unload their vehicles while parked within these lots.  They are then required to move to any dark green or purple lot.  Parking Services requests that faculty/staff who typically park within these lots park alternatively in any dark green or purple lot to keep the move-in process as smooth as possible.

Lots 4 and 6 (Scott Quad area)

-- Students moving into Scott Quad and the surrounding area are often faced with no parking alternatives to unload their vehicles.  This has led to many vehicles parking in the roadway on University Terrace causing many traffic problems and even accidents.  In an attempt to prevent this, Parking Services is allowing temporary 30 minute parking in lots 4 and 6 to those unloading their vehicles for move-in.

Your cooperation and understanding is appreciated as we all work together to help the students who are returning for a new school year!  Questions regarding parking may be directed to Parking Services via e-mail at parking@ohio.edu or via phone at 740-593-1917.
