ZANESVILLE, Ohio (May 27, 2005) -- What do nurses do? Students who participate in a summer program at Ohio University-Zanesville will have the opportunity to find out. The Ohio University-Zanesville nursing department is teaming up with Genesis HealthCare System to present the 13th annual "So You Want to Be a Nurse?" workshop.
Students entering grades 6-8 in the fall are invited to attend. The event will take place on Thursday, July 14 from 8:30 a.m. until noon in the Elson Hall Nursing Lab. Cost is $5 per student. Scholarships are available in cases of financial need.
The program will provide answers to students' questions about the nursing profession by allowing them to participate in some of the same types of "hands-on" activities that nurses do every day. Participants will learn to take temperatures, blood pressures, and pulses. They will also join in on activities that teach healthy lifestyles.
Class size for this fun, but educational, event is limited. Call (740) 588-1467 or email sharrer@ohio.edu to register the future nursing professional in your life.
