ZANESVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 2, 2004) -- Ohio University Zanesville and the Muskingum Family Y announce the formation of a fitness partnership and the addition of Erin Gruesbeck as a shared Health and Wellness Coordinator between the two facilities. Gruesback, a native of Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in health science this past spring. She also studied kinesiology and injury prevention in sports at Arkansas University.
"The collaboration will allow faculty, staff and students of Ohio University and Zane State to make use of facilities at the Y and members of the Y can utilize the Zanesville Campus fitness center," said Craig Miracle, Executive Director of the Muskingum Family Y.
Gruesbeck plans to extend fitness hours at the campus fitness center and expand intramural games between faculty and staff into real competitions. "Joint campuses are a great way for people to get to know each other," Gruesbeck said. Future activities will include fundraising for associations such as Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart, establishing a walking club, a student wellness challenge, fitness for women and desk exercises.
Jim Fonseca, Dean at Ohio University Zanesville said of the new partnership, "This is an excellent way to combine the strengths of our joint campus with the Muskingum Family Y in a way that benefits the entire community." Muskingum Family Y members will be able to use the Zanesville Campus Fitness center (in Littick Hall) during most hours of operation.
