Ohio University to close for New Years

ATHENS, Ohio (Dec. 28, 2004) -- Ohio University will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the national New Years Day holiday. New Years Day is Saturday, Jan. 1, but will be observed by the university on Friday, Dec. 31. The university will reopen Monday, Jan. 3, operating under normally scheduled hours -- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

University residence halls open for winter quarter on Saturday, Jan. 1, at noon and the Housing Office will be open offering limited services from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students continue to return to the residence halls Sunday, Jan. 2, starting at 9 a.m. and the Registrar, Bursar and Housing offices will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering limited services. Classes begin for the Athens and regional campuses Monday, Jan. 3.

Those of you who will spend the long weekend in the Athens area may wish to take a look at the Fun Stuff page for information about area attractions and events. In addition, the Kennedy Museum of Art will be open Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. featuring Robert Rauschenberg's "Scent and Pull." From his well-known "Hoarfrost" series (1974-75), these two prints are poetic, introspective pieces that, through his use of fabrics, investigate the visual effects of veiling and translucency. This exhibition will be on display through mid-February. The museum has more information available.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
