ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 29, 2004) -- Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis has announced a strategic reorganization that he believes will prove beneficial to Ohio University.
In order to move the university forward by attracting highly motivated students of unlimited potential, McDavis has decided to wed the recruitment process to the academic environment. He has worked closely with leadership in the Office of the Provost and in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration to effect the following change.
Effective Oct. 1, the offices of the registrar, student financial aid and undergraduate admissions will report to interim Provost Kathy Krendl. As the university moves to an enrollment management model in which these three functions are integrated more closely together, McDavis
believes this concentration within the academic process should provide significant dividends in terms of programs, student recruitment and results.
Another structural change is the shifting of the responsibility of university budget planning from the Office of the Provost to the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration. Academic budget planning, however, shall remain under the supervision of the provost.
As a result of the reorganization, interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Larry Corrigan will be in charge of the university's overall approach to budget issues.
