ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 24, 2004) -- For the second straight year, the Ohio University annual service awards program was held outside with great success.
The awards program, which featured a barbeque lunch, music and door prizes, was held in honor of the approximately 170 bargaining and non-bargaining classified employees who have or will complete 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 years of service this year.
Ohio University President Roderick McDavis was on hand to thank the honorees for their many years of service. He briefly shared his vision for the university and challenged classified employees to take a greater role in the future direction of the university.
"Classified employees truly make a difference at Ohio University and I just want to thank you for a job well done," McDavis said.
"The weather and food was great and President McDavis' gave an inspiring talk," said Alexis Cline, employee and labor relations specialist and organizer of the afternoon's event. "We even managed to raise money for the Classified Senate Scholarship, so overall everything was wonderful."
