Classified employees to be recognized for service on Friday

ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 21, 2004) -- Ohio University will host the 35th Annual Service Awards Program from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, in Nelson Commons Courtyard. Ohio University President Roderick McDavis and interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Larry Corrigan will speak during the ceremony.

The awards program, which will feature a barbeque lunch, music and door prizes, will recognize approximately 170 bargaining and non-bargaining classified employees who have or will complete 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 years of service at Ohio University this year.

"This event is held each year to honor these special employees for their dedication and outstanding service to the university," said committee chair and event organizer Alexis Cline. "We're expecting great weather and a good turnout for the event. Disc jockey Robin Barnes from WXTQ, 105.5 FM will even be there with the Jambulance."
