Berry named Classified Employee of the Month

ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 12, 2005) -- Ralph Berry was honored at the Classified Senate's October meeting as Ohio University's Classified Employee of the Month for October 2004. Berry has worked at Ohio University for eighteen years and is an electronics design specialist at the College of Osteopathic Medicine's Information Systems & Instructional Technology Department.

Berry was nominated for the award jointly by his immediate supervisor, Allen Reed, and the college's chief information officer, Brian Phillips. Reed praised Berry for his total commitment to provide technical support to COM's academic programs. Reed said, "He attempts to make improvements to the classroom that will make life easier for the instructors so that the instructors can focus on content and not on technical problems." Phillips's nominating comments emphasized Berry's strong work ethic that values personal achievement and pride in his work.

Berry is proud of his role at OU-COM and relishes knowing that doing his job well helps everyone else at OU-COM do a better job. His dream job is as a fishing guide in the spring and summer and then a hunting guide during the fall and winter. Previous awards include the OU-COM Outstanding Classified Employee for 1996 and he was selected during the 1990s as the Big Brother of the Year by the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Athens.

Ralph Berry's photo and award information is posted on the Classified Senate Web site at http://www.ohiou.edu/csen/EOTM.HTML. His photo and award announcement will be displayed in a prominent area in his department.

This monthly award is made based on nominations submitted by members of the University community for any classified employee who is setting standards for excellence and innovation by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility. Award winners show outstanding individual achievement, contribution, innovation and performance of their jobs. The nomination form is available on line at http://www.ohiou.edu/csen/EOTM.HTML or can be obtained by contacting Billi Jo Reeves at 593-2158 or reevesb1@ohio.edu.
