ATHENS, Ohio (Nov. 30, 2004) -- Ohio University President Roderick McDavis has commissioned a 22-member search and screening committee to assist the university with hiring a provost.
The committee will work in conjunction with Baker-Parker and Associates, an executive search firm based in Atlanta. The firm will assist the committee in recruiting a talented pool of candidates for the provost position.
Ohio University Vice President for Regional Higher Education Charlie Bird, chair of the search and screening committee, said the committee plans on interviewing candidates toward the end of winter quarter or early spring quarter. The new provost is expected to be in place this summer.
The provost reports to the president and is responsible for academic programs, university budget planning and coordination of internal university matters with the vice presidents. Kathy Krendl officially assumed her duties as interim provost on Aug. 9, 2004.
