ATHENS, Ohio (Nov. 2, 2004) -- The Ohio Men's Water Polo Club will be hosting its conference championship tournament Nov. 6 to 7. The tournament will determine the winner and representative to the Collegiate Water Polo Association's National Championship Tournament at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Nov. 19 to 21.
On Saturday, Nov. 6, Ohio will face Miami "B" at 3:45 p.m. and Dayton at 7:40 p.m. The third place game will be at 10 a.m. and the championship game will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Ohio Valley Conference comprises Ohio University, the University of Dayton, Oberlin College, Miami University "A" and Miami University "B" (Miami has two separate teams that compete against each other and players on the A team may not move to the B team).
Last year Ohio finished third in the conference losing to Dayton 10-9 in the final seconds. This season at the league qualifying tournament, a preview for the championship, Ohio defeated Oberlin 13-7, Dayton 10-9 and Miami "B" 12-7 on Oct. 9 at Dayton before losing to Miami "A" 13-9 to earn a second place finish.
