ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 26, 2004) -- Dale Tampke has been promoted to associate vice president for finance and administration at Ohio University. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing several departments including: University Human Resources, the Worker's Compensation Administration Department, the Office for University Professional Development and the Department of Environmental Health and Safety.
He previously held the position of assistant vice president for administration and had the responsibility of providing internal consulting services and support to university areas in order to help them use data to support program improvement.
"Dale Tampke brings a unique set of skills to this position," said interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Larry Corrigan. "He brings a lot of resources to the table and the offices that now fall under his supervision can now take full advantage of these resources."
Tampke was hired at Ohio University in 1994 as director of housing, a position he held until 2000, when he was promoted to assistant vice president for administration and director of assessment. He also teaches courses and serves as an academic advisor for University College.
Previous to Ohio University, he held the titles of assistant director of housing and assistant dean of students at the University of Illinois from 1989 to 1992 and director of residential life at Stetson University from 1992 to 1994.
An Athens City councilman, Tampke is very involved in the local community. He is co-chair of the Athens Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, treasurer of the Family Health Care Inc. board and is a volunteer with numerous local agencies.
"I am pleased to have some new challenges," Tampke said. "There's much to do, but we have a talented and dedicated staff ready to contribute."
