Awa rds Management Process

Using Animal and Human Subjects

Should your proposed body of work include the use of animals or humans, ORSP will work with the Office of Compliance to retrieve the necessary university approvals before an account can be established. If you do not have an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocol or an Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol on file for that specific project, an account will not be established and spending is prohibited until the point in which documentation is received by ORSP. For more information in obtaining Compliance approval, please consult the University Compliance section of this handbook.

TIP: Most agencies do not require IRB or IACUC approvals at the time of proposal submission. You should submit your application for review and approval during your wait time. Should you neglect to receive approval during this time, your award activation will be delayed until ORSP receives notific ation that you have been approved to commence your research.
