Orientation Leader Application

Bobcat Student Orientation Leader Applications are due Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 5:00pm, in 419 Baker Center. Because of the cold weather closing Monday, January 27th at 5:00pm through Wednesday, January 29th at 5:00am, the information sessions scheduled for January 27th and 28th have been canceled. Therefore, students who have not attended an information session may still apply by submitting their applications by Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 5:00pm, but must attend one of the following sessions:

New Applicant Information­

BSO is hiring students from all undergraduate colleges to work as Orientation Leaders or Administrative Orientation Leaders during the summer Orientation session and throughout the 2013-14 academic year. Applications will be available beginning November 11, 2013 via our website and applications can be picked-up in Baker Center room 419.

Successfull applicants will be available to work all Orientation dates and attend staff training prior to the start of the program, June 1, 2014 - June 27, 2014 and August 21-22, 2014.­ Additionally applicants must attend a 1.5 credit-hour class during spring semester.

Applicants from the following colleges must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0: Business, Education, Fine Arts, Scripps, and University College. Applicants from the following colleges must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5: Arts & Sciences, Engineering & Technology, and Health Sciences & Professions. Applicants must have completed 30 credit hours by December 13, 2013.­ Additionally, applicants must have graduated from high school prior to August 2012.

Current Orientation Leaders will host Information Sessions and those interested can learn more details about the job, the requirements needed to fulfill the position, and have the opportunity to meet some of our current staff members.

Selection of applicants is determined by materials presented. Please submit the following, in this order, to 419 Baker Center, no later than Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 5:00pm:

  • Information sheet
  • Cover letter (include position preference: Orientation Leader or Administrative Orientation Leader)
  • Resume (include cellphone number, anticipated date of graduation and post-graduation plans if graduating in Spring 2014)
  • Recent DARs
  • Each applicant must have two references.­ Please choose faculty, administrators, or employers, either past or present, to serve as your references. Undergraduate students do not qualify to serve as references.
