Preparing for Bobcat Student Orientation

This page will help you decide if you are eligible to register for orientation, how to register for orientation, and what you can expect to learn at orientation. Additional information about parking and overnight accommodations is described below. Please visit our FAQ page for additional questions or concerns and please call us at 740.593.1951 if you cannot find the information you need.

 

Spring Orientation Registration Schedule

Registration for the Thursday or Friday, January 8 or 9, 2015, First-Year Student Orientation is currently available through your my.ohio.edu portal. Please log-in with your OHIO ID and password to access the link under the "My Applications" tab. Feel free to call or email the Orientation Programs office with any questions or concerns.

Fees

Orientation fees for students and guests are billed to the students' accounts and are paid in the same manner as tuition, housing, etc. Orientation fees include one meal and are non-refundable.

Orientation Registration

Who Can Attend Orientation?

First-year undergraduate students who have been admitted to the Athens campus and who have paid their housing deposits, will be eligible to register for orientation. Students eligible to attend orientation must register to attend through their my.ohio portal (my.ohio.edu). Students must register to attend orientation, as each session has limited availability. This ensures individual advising access to all students.

How to Register for Orientation

Registration is online, as we are unable to make reservations by phone.  Here are the steps to register:

  • Go to your My OHIO account.
  • Click on the tab labeled “My Applications” and look for the box called Bobcat Student Orientation. 
  • From there, access the online reservation system for Bobcat Student Orientation.
  • Choose the date that you would like to attend Orientation.
  • Enter your parent/guest information.
  • Print a copy of the confirmation letter and bring it with you to Orientation.

 

Students Who Cannot Attend the Dates Available in the Registration System

All Ohio University, Athens Campus, undergraduate students are required to attend Orientation. Students who are unable to attend orientation should call the Orientation Programs Office at 740.593.1951 as soon as possible.

At Orientation

At orientation, students will learn about academic requirements for their programs, life at Ohio University, as well as meet other new students. Orientation check-in is 8-9:45am and the last session ends between 4-5pm.

While at orientation, students may park on-campus in a designated lot as listed on parking permit. Parking Services will be monitoring and ticketing all campus parking meters, sign-restricted spaces, disability spaces, and fire lanes/areas.
