Why did you pick Ohio University?
I visited a lot of colleges when I was deciding which school I wanted to attend. I liked the friendly atmosphere and personal interactions of the smaller schools, but I like the opportunities that larger schools can offer. Ohio University was the best of both worlds; it had a small campus feel with large campus opportunities.
What is the best part about living in Athens?
There is a very laid back atmosphere here in Athens (not lazy just laid back), and everyone if very friendly. Complete strangers will say hi to you when you pass them on the street.
Where is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the bathrooms in Ellis Hall. Ellis houses the English, Classical and World Religions, and the Philosophy departments. The students in these building just can’t seem to help themselves from sharing their knowledge of the world through bathroom graffiti. Whole conversations and debates are written out over the bathroom stalls. It’s hilarious.
What has been your favorite class at OU and why?
My favorite class has been Alternatives to Agricultures with Professor Art Trese. This class is really just a gardening class. Each student was given his/her own plot and then we learn how to make a garden.
What advice would you give to a first year student?
To get involved in something you normally would never have done. This allows you go places and meet people you normally do not interact with.
