More about UNIFY...

A Letter From the President

Unify is an important student organization comprised of diverse students who are committed to increasing diversity and understanding at Ohio University. Unify was formed for the purpose of promoting information sharing and collaboration among diversity-related student organizations. Unify stands for diversity in a largely inclusive sense of the word. So, as president, I encourage all political, international, cultural, and otherwise diversity-related organizations to join.

Unify will tap into and enhance existing diversity initiatives more often than creating new ones. Members have identified and targeted nearly fifty diversity-related organizations currently in existence that we believe can benefit from the collaboration and information sharing that Unify will work to facilitate. Annual diversity conferences will capture this kind of collaboration at its best and help participants develop a more holistic appreciation for diversity. The Diversify Your World Campaign, one of this group’s greatest resources, will help students identify and make connections among their experiences with diversity even after the conference has come to an end.

I believe that Unify is well on its way to becoming an integral component of our University’s vision of diversity. Individuals and student organizations hoping to benefit from this movement to “unify”, simply must take part in this promising organization.

Sincerely,

Micah Mitchell
President, Unify
Student Trustee, Ohio University
