WHAT IS THE SENIOR CLASS COUNCIL?
Senior Class Council, sponsored and advised by the Ohio University Alumni Association leadership, annually provides direction and advice for members of the graduating senior class. Through Council programming and outreach, Ohio University students benefit from efforts that include discounted rates from select local merchants, graduate receptions, career assistance receptions with alumni, and a host of other life transition program offerings. In addition, the class officers assist the University's president in the selection of commencement speaker.
WHAT ARE THE COUNCIL COMMITTEES?
Professional Development: The goal of the Professional Development Committee is to offer beneficial programming to our seniors that will help them learn and grow as they begin the transition between college life and their careers. The programming for the year includes informational seminars on subjects such as: professional etiquette, credit building, repaying your student loans, legal services, and buying your first car. We will also be offering professional photos for graduating seniors, alumni networking opportunities, resume critiques, a graduate and professional schools fair, as well as working with Career Services to offer mock interviews.
Heritage and Tradition: The Heritage and Tradition committee of Senior Class Council makes sure that the experiences and memories of the Senior Class are preserved. As historians, they are enthusiastic about creating the first ever scrapbook, documenting the experience of the 2007-2008 academic year.
Public Relations: The goal of the Public Relations committee is to bring awareness about other committees' projects to the student body, especially the senior class. We work to promote events, t-shirt sales and update the Web site with the latest SCC information.
Fundraising: The Fundraising committee is in charge of all the monetary activity within Senior Class Council and are the working hands of all fundraising activities. We work to brainstorm ideas for fundraisers as well as assist the Heritage and Tradition Committee with raising money for the Senior Class Gift. We have bulit a partnership with Habitat For Humanity in order to assist them in their preparations for building houses throughout the Athens community.
Engagement: The Engagement committee plans, organizes and implements social events for seniors throughout the year to facilitate interaction, bonding and cohesiveness among the graduating class of 2008. Through entertaining events and socials, we strive to allow seniors to enjoy their final year at OU while making memories that will last a lifetime.
