Dressing For Your Body

Wear the Trends - Don't Let the Trends Wear You!

By Hailey Uhler

More often than not, amazing girls with great taste fall victim to the trends designed with one body type in mind: tall and lean. With all the beautiful women strolling around Ohio University’s campus, this shouldn’t be the case. It’s no secret these days that beauty is not reserved for sizes 0-6. And women who weren’t blessed with über-long legs, a flat stomach, or a petite frame should not have to succumb to a fashion not fit for their body, nor should they have to avoid the trend completely, which is why POISE fashion is dedicated to bringing all the ladies of OU the best fashions without becoming fashion victims. Read along to find out the best jacket styles for every body (literally).

Great For Every Body: MILITARY

The military-inspired jackets were all the rage on runways during the fall and winter seasons, partly because they're flattering for all shapes and sizes. They range in color, length and embellishments, so when looking for your Military Jacket, make sure it's all about what you like.

Great For Pear Shapes: BLAZER

Blazers are classic closet builders and never go out of style, perhaps because they range from 1 button to 3, and trendy to sexy to vintage. For shapely ladies, blazers fall below the waist and that button, clasp, tie, etc., along the waist line are best. Make sure the seems fall along your natural curves, and that the center tapering is neither baggy nor tight.

Great For Boyish & Petit Figures: BOMBER

Last winter's influence has hit the runways again, but with a slightly different agenda. While some jackets still incorporate puffly-chic looks, others are focusing on the crisp, classic look of the original jacket. Shorter styles help to create a waist for those without one, and shorten a long torso at the same time.

Great for Small Breasts: WESTERN

This seasons Western jackets range from jean, to corduroy, to shearling. Because they're tailored, and have embellished pockets, they add to what's not normally there. Paired with a gem-stone cami, or feminine lace top, these jeans can be glam and ready for a night on the town. When accompanied over a vintage tee, or cotton tank, a more casual, yet still pulled together look is achieved.

Great for Large Breasts: STATEMENT

Statement jackets are great for voluptuous vixens, not only because they are fun and flirty, but because the exciting decorative accents, and fun cuts help to minimize and accommodate large breasts. This seasons statements jackets range from hounds-tooth, to polka-dots, so make it your own.

We loved the selections of jackets (and the cheap prices) from stores like Forever 21, Charolette Russe, Gap, Express and Victoria's Secrets. Check them out for yourself at your local mall, or better yet, online.
