:Articles
- Minimum of 5,000 words, dealing with a local, National or international issues stemming from or leading towards case law. Articles should be an analysis of a recent or pending legislative or judicial statute, or a suggestion for a current situation based upon detailed research and case law. Must be concise and divided into sections of discussion (both sides), history, important legal issues, considerations and conclusion. Must include endnotes and proper citation, and/or footnotes and references.
Spotlight Featured Article- Minimum of 4,500 words addressing an important legal or ethical issue with significant current/future implications. Must be an original and unpublished prima facie argument demonstrating extensive research and analysis. This competition is to distinguish the best of the submitted "Articles." The article will be chosen by the editorial board from a pool of selected articles submitted to the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB) one month before publication.
Comments and Notes
- A manuscript discussing current phenomena with legal ramifications not to be less than 3,500 words in length. A "Comment" is a detailed proposition concerning a recent Court decision or legislative enactment. "Notes" are specific research essays that address legal issues involved in a recent Court Decision. Introduce a topic and support its importance. Provide background and applicable case law. Discuss and evaluate pertinent legal or ethical issues. Essays should include opposing point of views as well as relevant experts, litigators and politicians. Conclude with a clear and well-developed proposition.
All papers should include footnotes cited at the bottom of the corresponding page. Submissions for online should use endnote citation. Place the author's name(s) at the beginning and the end of the paper. The manuscript must be signed by all contributors. Please use 10 or 12 pt. Courier type-face. All papers must be typographically perfect and in proper format. ORLE conforms to "BlueBook" standards.
