The Allydrive strives to energize and galvanize the LGBT and supportive communities to work for equality at all levels; strengthen the overall movement for equal rights; and to inform, empower and inspire members of the Ohio University community.
The Allydrive will not only distribute informational material to the OU community regarding state legislature, university policy, and general definitions; but potential Allies will have the opportunity to “sign-up” to be an ally, request to be put on a listserv, and receive an ALLY button, further raising awareness & creating visibility on campus.
After tremendously successful drives every Friday afternoon of Spring Quarter 2002, gaining close to 200 signatures, one has decided to re-institute the project Spring Quarter 2003 – watch for it!
OUT SCOUTS was founded by Project Coordinator and Eagle Scout Ryan Beam on the same principles as its parent organization, one; equality for all. Through its discriminatory policies against gay youth and adult leaders, as well as atheists, the Boy Scouts have violated the core values on which one is based. OUT SCOUTS’ mission is to reverse anti-gay and anti-atheist policies within the Boy Scouts of America, as well as to institute diversity education. one is going “back to square one” this winter quarter, with an aggressive new in-house project. Since the founding of the organization, one has had more than 70 members of the Ohio University community attend its meetings, with over 100 individuals subscribed to its listserv. Still, attendance at weekly general body meetings remains relatively low; averaging 10-15 members.
In an attempt to regain these past members, one will be hand-delivering personalized invitations to a social function, followed by a meeting: the old one meeting the new one. This in-house project is aimed at attracting new members, while retaining current actives for future advancement of the organization. Email one@ohio.edu to help out!
