Founder and Executive Director of one, Ian Beers has been politically active in the human rights movement for over four years. A junior at Ohio University earning his bachelor of sciences in communication degree with an emphasis in journalism, and minor in business administration, Beers has donated time to advance the efforts of the Human Rights Campaign, the Miami Valley AIDS Task Force, as well as taken part in Cleveland AIDS walks, the 2001 Midwest LGBTA College Conference in Illinois, and was one of over a half million participants in the Millennium March on Washington D.C. for Equality in April 2000.

Since attending Ohio University, Beers has been involved in Ohio University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, College Democrats, the Student Senate Commission for LGBT Affairs, served as secretary to the LGBT Advisory Committee, as well as function as Open Doors’ Promotions Director from 2000-2001. Since founding one, he has spearheaded such projects as the unlearn campaign and the Ally Drive. Beers currently works in the Office of LGBT Programs, located in Baker Center.

A sophomore majoring in forensic chemistry, Kelly Murray is originally from Maumee, Ohio. While at Ohio University, Murray has been an active member of Campus Crusade for Christ, College Democrats, OU Men Against Sexism, and one. Murray can boast of being the almighty webmistress of the OU Department of Chemistry, College Democrats and one websites.

Daughter of Bill and Debi, Murray was involved with National Honor Society, and played trombone and flute in the marching, pep, and jazz bands in high school. Over the summer, she worked at St. Vincent’s Credit Union. The eldest member of the oneboard, Murray enjoys eating chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, listening to *nsync, and crushing on Mr. Fallsgraff (Toby’s dad).

A junior management information systems major and political science minor, Ryan Beam is a native of Hudson, OH. While at Ohio University, he has worked on several local campaigns through the College Democrats, and hopes to one day pursue a career in the political field.

Beam has attended every one meeting since the organization’s inaugural meeting in September 2001. Becoming actively involved with programs and projects, Beam – an Eagle Scout – assumed the role of president and launched one’s first major project, OUT SCOUTS, which works to promote diversity in the Boy Scouts of America by lifting its ban on gays and atheists. In addition to being one’s Director of Finance, he also sits on the Student Activities Commission and is a member of both College Democrats and Open Doors.

After attending Capital University for two years, Elizabeth Hamister transferred to Ohio University as a sociology major and women's studies certificate candidate. In addition to serving as one's Director of Education, Hamister has also worked extensively as a board member for IOUPIRG, a fledging organization working to establish a chapter of non-profit environmental and consumer rights group on campus. Hamister hopes to pursue her graduate degree and a career in education after receiving her degree from OU. Go Bobcats!

Jaclyn Light, a junior business management major in the college of business, is from North Ridgeville, OH. While attending Ursuline College fall semester of her freshman year, Light was involved with the student newspaper, The Voice, as well as a member of the Residence Hall Committee where events for the students that resided on campus were planned.

A founding member of one, and the organization's premiere Executive Secretary, Light was an integral part of planning such events as the class of 2005 & class of 2006 freshman expositions, Diversity Rocks the Vote 2001 & 2002, the Ally Drive, and served as the key organizer for the oneBALL. In addition to one, Light works in Baker Center Administration.

Jenny Hall-Jones currently works at Ohio University as the Assistant Director of Residence Life for the East Green (while she also is advising a fabulous student organization). Jenny came to OU as a student in the fall of 1991, where she got involved in Residence Life as a RA and worked in Student Activities as a Peer Leadership Consultant. When she graduated with her degree in Sociology/Criminology in 1995, she decided to stay on at OU for grad school. Liking Residence Life so much, she became an ARD while completing a Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel.

After spending 6 years at OU completing her degrees, she couldn't leave! Hall-Jones was hired as a Resident Director in 1996 and enjoyed being an RD until she became Assistant Director this year. She has a partner, Scott Hall-Jones, who teaches 6th grade at East Elementary School in Athens, and two sons, Casey (4) and Bryan (1). Jenny and her family live in an on-campus apartment on the north side of Jefferson Hall, and love visitors -- so stop on by!!
