Recent Updates

August 18, 2008

I've been motivated all week to take on extracurricular projects, redesigning my site redesign ended up being one of them.

April 30, 2008

The website needed to be completely redone... Again. This time it will materialize into something beautiful, like a butterfly from a cacoon.

SERVICE PROJECTS:
-Every quarter we are going to be concentrating on one large service project
that the entire chapter is required to participate in. At the meeting, the
chapter voted on working at a local orphanage. The actual date and time will be
determined at the next meeting but it will probably be taking place on a Saturday.
-If you guys have any suggestions or service projects that you are involved in
through other organizations, feel free to email the chapter and offer them to
participate with you.
-You'll also have the opportunity to volunteer at a local elementary school
reading to children weekly and also at ATCO working with adults who have special
needs. If this is something that you are interested in, please email me and I
will set a time for you to work with others in the chapter.

FUNDRAISING:
-We will be having grilled cheese sales uptown and also a bake sale to help make
money for the chapter as well as our national philanthropy, Reading is Leading,
which will send books to schools who cannot afford them.
-If you have any ideas let us know!

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
-An attendance policy was formed at chapter. You must follow the attendance
policy in order to receive chords at graduation. We want Mortar Board to be
something enjoyable for everyone so if you have suggestions as a way to make the
chapter better, please volunteer to step up and doing something fun :)
-Through out the year, you can earn a total of 24 points by attending everything
that Mortar Board puts on. However, you only need 16 points to get chords at the
end of the year.
-Meetings are two points. You only need to get 8 points out of a possible 12
points for meetings.
-Service Projects and fundraising events are also 2 points each time you
participate. The large service project for the quarter (there is one per
quarter) is mandatory.
-The service projects that are offered every week, such as working at the
elementary school or ATCO are one point.

Again, if you guys have any questions or problems please email and we can work
something out. I'm really excited to work with everyone this year and think that
its going to be a good year. If you would like to help plan upcoming events,
please contact me and we'll work something out! :) Thanks guys and I'll see you
October 5th!!
