    Officer Positions

Officers for the Ohio University Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity are elected in late winter or early spring quarter.  Once elected, new officers spend the remainder of the school year training under and shadowing current officers.  New officers assume their positions at the close of the school year in which they were elected, and hold the position for one year.

Candidates for office are nominated by their peers and must present a short speech about themselves, their qualifications, and why they want to be an officer.  Voting is confidential and a tie will produce co-officer positions.  To retain an officer position, a member must follow the aforementioned process.

    Officer Positions

The positions described below represent the typical offices occupied.  Depending on membership decision and need, positions may be omitted, added, combined or shared.  However, the positions of president and treasurer are required.

All officers are expected to stay in contact with members, organize events, and attend meetings.

    President

The president oversees officers and meetings, attends and represents the student chapter at affiliate, coalition, and Community Service Leadership Council meetings, and leads the chapter meetings.

    Vice President

The vice president is responsible for contacting volunteers to remind them of volunteer opportunities and for coordinating the volunteers.  The vice president also keeps track of individual involvement to determine membership status.

    Treasurer

    Secretary

The secretary compiles minutes at each meeting and distributes them to members via the listserv.  The secretary also updates and manages the website.

    Officer Nominations

Once a year officer elections are held.  During this time if you would like to become an officer, or would like to nominate someone for a position in the organization, we request that you fill out a simple form.  The form asks for a few pieces of information about the nominee and his/her interest in the position.  The nomination form can be found here.
