What is Golden Key?
Golden Key International Honour Society is a well established and recognized academic honor society dedicated to excellence. You must be invited to become a member of this prestigious organization and invitation is achieved through high academic achievement. The Society strives to recognize, encourage and maintain high standards of achievements in all fields of study and to promote voluntary service to schools and communities. Golden Key also provides scholarships to outstanding members to promote scholastic achievement.

Golden Key has over 300 collegiate chapters in various places throughout the world. It was founded at Georgia State University on November 29, 1977 and now has more than 1,000,000 lifetime members worldwide. The members not only consist of those who were recognized as students, but honorary members that make an impact on these students' lives. Being a member of Golden Key is a lifelong membership and has lifelong benefits (which are listed further down on this page). Being an active member on the OU campus also has its benefits.

Golden Key was charted at Ohio University on May 21, 1989. We are constantly striving to better our organization and our community.

										Mission Statement The mission of Golden Key International Honour Society, a nonprofit academic honors organization, is to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships, and to promote altruistic conduct through voluntary service.
