What is your favorite thing about being in Empower?
My favorite aspect about Empower is the humble beginnings from which Empower was created. Andria Sherrow is one of the most dedicated and respectable individuals I know, and I have learned so much about devotion to service from her. Working with Andria and the other dedicated interns has helped me to focus in on my goals of helping others.

What does Empower mean to you?
To me, Empower is about one of my greatest passions; education. Empower is dedicated to educating those less fortunate communities that need knowledge the most, to use as a tool to improve their standards of living. Without the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next, how can anyone expect to succeed in a substantial way? This is true of any society and especially those of impoverished people. The love and dedication of every heart involved with Empower will lead to truly incredible things. Empower is definitely one of a kind.

What got you involved in the Empower Campaign?
When I began volunteering for The Empower Campaign last spring, I really had no idea how much the experience would affect me. I've always been a proponent of education, interested in international affairs, and wanted to help others. The Empower Campaign gave me the opportunity to pursue all of these interests and later, as an intern, I was able to learn more about public relations and applied anthropology. I am reminded daily of how fortunate I am to be able to go to college and how foundational education is to empowering people. Working with The Empower Campaign, I know that I am part of a group that's making a difference in the lives of children and communities around the world.

What does Empower mean to you?
Empower has become very close to my heart over the past few years. I'm really proud to be part of such a genuine organization that gives children who have nothing a place to learn and feel safe.
What do you see happening with Empower in the future?
In the future I see Empower exploding into an even bigger organization with world wide notoriety. Empower has the unique ability to grab the hearts of its followers and inspire them to do more to help children in need.

What do you see happening with Empower in the future?
Most of us are looking at this page from laptops, and we have laptops for the very purpose of our education. In my case, my parents bought mine for me as a graduation present, so I could use it when I went to college. I never really thought twice about it. I was appreciative, but from where I came from, college was always an option--a must, rather. All I had to do was ensure my grades would allow me acceptance into any college I wanted. The idea was ingrained, assured. My education was inevitable. I have only worked on the Empower Campaign since last spring. Already, however, the rewards have gone both ways. I feel that in participating, I am making a difference in someone else's life. In the other aspect, it has made me so much more appreciative of my own education that I have become much more passionate about doing something--anything--to help others who lack this possibility. In Uganda, there is hardly inevitability in their education ideals. Working on the Campaign, I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful people I have ever met and I feel so lucky to be able to be involved in something so powerful. I feel so blessed to have found some of my best friends in doing something that just seems like what I should do, and can do. I look forward to continue working, learning, evolving, and experiencing the wonderful feeling I get from helping those in need receive the education they deserve.

What is your favorite thing about being in Empower?
I am because we are. It is amazing to me how much one can do for others from so far away and what an impact Empower has made on African orphans and vulnerable children. While working with the Empower Campaign, I have seen the passion, love, and commitment it takes to help achieve the children's dreams of an education and better life. My most favorite Empower experience was crossing the finish line at our 5K race this Fall and later seeing the immense impact the fundraising had on the children while watching the video footage from Andria, Gwennan, and Britney's trip to Uganda. Watching their smiling faces and hearing the songs they sang gave me the same chills that I got when I was first introduced to the Empower Campaign in Spring of 2009.It only takes one person to start a wave... it is you, it is me, it can be all of us. We all can help make waves in the ocean of help that can bring the dreams of the children to life. Take part, feel the love, and help these children. You're life will never be the same. The stories that have been shared with me, videos I have seen, and the songs I have heard the children sing have deeply impacted my life. I am because we are... We are one. We are many. We are and must be for each other, that is what Empower means to me.
