Blackburn Spencer Scholarship Pageant

The Blackburn Spencer Scholarship Pageant is an evening of entertainment through a formal dance, dinner, and live entertainment. This event has been occurring on Ohio University’s campus for over 34 years. Contestants compete to be crowned King or Queen of the event through fundraising, question/answer period, and a formal scene. In the spring, several students are awarded money to be used toward tuition through the Blackburn Spencer Scholarship, and the Blackburn Spencer Achievement Award.

"K" is for Kwanzaa

K is for Kwanzaa is a program designed for elementary school students to teach them about the seven principles of Kwanzaa and serves as an outreach program for BSCPB. Ohio University students have the opportunity to serve their community as volunteers who help prepare for the program and guide the children through this learning experience and activities. Our hope is to teach the younger generation about this important holiday so they can take what they have learned for years to come.

Sibs Weekend Variety Show

“So yOU Think You’re Famous” is a lip-sync contest that allows students to recreate a famous song/video by using their creative minds, costumes, and choreography. Contestants are critiqued by a panel of judges, but the winner is decided by audience applause. The event is attended by Ohio University students and their siblings. Admission to the event includes canned goods that are donated to local Athens food shelters.

SIBS Weekend Concert

The SIBS Weekend Concert is an annual, highly anticipated concert for students, their siblings and the Athens community. The concert features an R&B, and/ or Rap artist and is held in the Templeton Blackburn Memorial Auditorium.

Mom's Weekend Expo

The Mom’s Weekend Expo occurs during Ohio University’s Mom’s Weekend each year. It is an opportunity for BSCPB to give mom’s the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of relaxation full of crafts, food, massages, and live music.

Unity Fest Outdoor Festival

Unity Fest is an annual outdoor festival intended to be a fun and relaxing experience before the end of the school year. It is a day of free food, games, inflatable’s, and music and is the culminating event for BSCPB’s social events for the academic year.

Black Alumni Weekend Entertainment

Every three years, Ohio University Alumni Office holds the Black Alumni Weekend. BSCPB has made a powerful impact in the diverse programming at Ohio University for over 34 years, so this a time for Alumni to comeback and see what the organization has been doing since their graduation. BSCPB contributes to the Black Alumni Weekend by providing either a comedy show or music act, and a social event for alumni to meet current BSCPB members, and the Executive Board.
