What is a ListServ? - A ListServ is an e-mail list you can subscribe to. When an e-mail is sent to the list, everyone who is subscribed receives a copy of it. This lets us get rid of our inconsistent 'reply to a huge list of e-mails' method. It makes it easier for new people to be added to the list and stay there, and people who do not want to receive e-mail can remove themselves from the list.

How to add yourself to the list - It's easy! All you have to do is send an e-mail to listserv@ouvaxa.cats.ohiou.edu and type "subscribe biking-L" (without the quotes) in the body of the e-mail (not in the subject). Shortly after you should receive a confirmation e-mail saying you've been added to the list.

Note: If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, check to see if you are running a junk mail filter. Some filters will see e-mails that come from a mailing list as junk and filter them out (my hotmail account did this). To fix this you need to mark the address as "not junk mail". This procedure could vary between service providers, but in hotmail I just had to go into my junk mail box and mark it as not junk mail. You should only have to do this once, then it will not filter out messages coming from the ListServ.

Sending everyone an e-mail - That's the simple part, just send your mail to biking-L@ouvaxa.cats.ohiou.edu and everyone will see it.

Removing yourself from the list - If you're tired of hearing everyone bitch about rides and meetings and you just want to get fat in peace, the procedure for removing yourself from the list is the same as joining, except enter "unsubscribe biking-L" in the body of the e-mail.
