In order to run a virtual desktop, you must first be entitled to use it. If you have already been entitled to access at least one virtual desktop, then you will need to install a "View Client" application on your desktop. This application will allow you to host a "window" to the virtual desktop.

The installation will vary based on your workstation platform. Select your platform from the list below:

• Windows PC users
• Mac users
• iPad users
• Android users

Windows PC users

The View Client application is available at http://mydesktop.ohio.edu

There may be more than one download choice; be sure to select the one that is appropriate for your workstation.

If you are downloading the client from a Windows machine, you may be presented with the option to download a "64-bit" version of the View Client. If you need help determining if your Windows system is 32-bit or 64-bit, please see the "How can I tell if I have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?" in the FAQ page.

Please do not select the download for the "local mode" client, if it is displayed.  

After downloading, follow the instructions to install the client. When prompted for the Connection Server name, enter: mydesktop.ohio.edu

All other input fields can be left as defaults during the installation process. When completed, you may be asked to reboot your machine.

Mac users

The Mac View Client application is available at http://mydesktop.ohio.edu

After downloading, follow the instructions to install the client. When prompted for the Connection Server name, enter: mydesktop.ohio.edu

All other input fields can be left as defaults during the installation process. When completed, you may be asked to reboot your machine.

iPad users

The iPad VMware View client is available at the Apple App Store. Search for VMware View for iPad. Please be sure to download the free app created by VMware.

After downloading, follow the instructions to install the client. When prompted for the Connection Server name, enter: mydesktop.ohio.edu

All other input fields can be left as defaults during the installation process.

Android users

The Android VMware View client is available at the Android App Store. Search for VMware View Client.

After downloading, follow the instructions to install the client. When prompted for the Connection Server name, enter: mydesktop.ohio.edu
