In order to run a virtual desktop, you must first be entitled to use it. If you have already been entitled to access at least one virtual desktop, then you will need to install a "View Client" application on your desktop. This application will allow you to host a "window" to the virtual desktop.
The installation will vary based on your workstation platform. Select your platform from the list below:
The View Client application is available at VMWare's client download site. Look under the VMware View Client for Windows section.
You will have the option to download a "32-bit" or "64-bit" version of the View Client. If you need help determining if your Windows system is 32-bit or 64-bit, please see the "How can I tell if I have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?" in the FAQ page.
Do not select the download for the "local mode" client. Local mode is not supported in this environment.
After downloading, follow the instructions to install the client. When prompted for the Connection Server name, enter: mydesktop.ohio.edu
All other input fields can be left as defaults during the installation process. When completed, you may be asked to reboot your machine.
