Network Storage

The Oak system retired on June 30, 2011.  SFTP and WebDAV access to Oak is no longer available.  Replacement storage options are listed below.

Undergraduate Students and Alumni

You have access to Microsoft's SkyDrive service through your CatMail account.

Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students, and Retirees

You have access to personal network storage on home.ohio.edu and, in some cases, departmental shared storage on shared.ohio.edu.

Follow the instructions below to access personal or shared storage from on-campus locations.  If you need to access your files from off-campus, use our web-based VPN.

Personal Storage Instructions - Campus locations

These instructions are for on-campus locations.  Use the VPN to access personal storage from off-campus.

Windows

  • Open the Start Menu
  • Click Run
  • Type in \\home.ohio.edu\home
  • If prompted, use your OhioID@ohio.edu e-mail address and your password to log in.

Mac

  • From the Finder, click Go
  • Click "Connect to Server"
  • Type in smb://home.ohio.edu
  • If prompted, use your OhioID@ohio.edu e-mail address and your password to log in.

Shared Storage Instructions

These instructions are for on-campus locations.  Use the VPN to access personal storage from off-campus.

Windows

  • Open the Start Menu
  • Click Run
  • Type in \\shared.ohio.edu
  • If prompted, use your OhioID@ohio.edu e-mail address and your password to log in, then select your department from the list.

Mac

  • From the Finder, click Go
  • Click "Connect to Server"
  • Type in smb://shared.ohio.edu
  • If promtped, use your OhioID@ohio.edu e-mail address and your password to log in, then select your department from the list.
