  • Low probability of a service outage, or one that affects only a small set of users

Wednesdays from 12:01 am until 6:00 am

  • Moderate to high probability of a service outage, but impact is limited

Thursdays from 6:00 pm until 11:59 pm

  • Low probability of a service outage, or one that affects only a small set of users

Saturdays from 12:01 am until 9:00 am

  • High probability of a service outage
  • Affects a wide range of users
  • When possible, outages with wide impact will start after 3:00 am and conclude before 8:00 am

Change Freezes

In order to minimize the chance of down time for IT systems during critical times of the year, we avoid making major production changes during the following time windows:

  • Beginning of a semester
    • STARTS: 12:01 am on the day occurring one week prior to the start of classes
    • ENDS: 11:59 pm on the day occurring one week after the start of classes
  • End of a semester
    • STARTS: 12:01 am on the first day of the last week of classes
    • ENDS: 24 hours after the deadline for grade submission, as posted by the Office of the University Registrar
  • Winter Closure
    • STARTS: 12:01 am at least two days prior to the start of the closure
    • ENDS: 12:01 am on the first day after the closure ends

We will send a university-wide notice two weeks before each freeze window begins.
