Workaround for Apple Wifi Bug

Workaround for Mac OS WiFi bug (printable PDF)

If your Mac laptop randomly drops its OHIO wireless connection, the steps below will fix that problem:

  1. In the top right of your screen, click the magnifying glass and type the word Keychain
  2. Click on Keychain Access
  3. Under Category, choose Certificates (NOT My Certificates)
  4. Identify if there is only one securelogin.oit.ohio.edu entry.
    1. If there is only one continue to step five.
    2. If there is more than one, delete all securelogin.oit.ohio.edu entries and re-connect to OHIO University Wifi and accept the certificate. Then continue at step one again.
  5. Double-click securelogin.oit.ohio.edu
  6. Click the triangle next to Trust
  7. Use the drop-down menus to change the following attributes to Always Trust:
    • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
    • Extensible Authentication (EAP)
    • X.509 Basic Policy
  8. Close the dialog box and enter your Mac's password to confirm the changes
