Repairs under way after water leak damages phone lines

Thursday, August 22, 2013
Sean O'Malley

UPDATE - Aug 23, 2:00 pm: Airport telephone lines came back online at 9:30 am on Aug 22. Toll free, office-to-office dialing between campuses was restored at 2:00 pm on Aug 23.

OIT technicians are repairing water damage to a portion of the university telephone system. The following services are affected:

  • Ohio University Airport extensions are not functioning - please use email to reach airport staff. If you have urgent business that cannot be conducted over email, please call the university's main switchboard at 740-593-1000.

  • Calls between Athens campus offices and regional campus extensions must be made via long distance rather than via the campus gateway lines.

All other university phone services are operating normally.

This story has been edited to reflect the fact that the water damage was not storm related.
