OIT support hours for fall opening

Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Sean O'Malley

Returning students, faculty and staff who need technical support have several options during the 2011 fall opening, September 1 through 6.

OITECH online answers and work requests - 24 hours a day

Individuals now can submit a question, problem or service request to the OIT Service Desk at any time, day or night, by visiting www.ohio.edu/oitech.  Issues submitted through the OITECH site normally will receive a response the next business day; however, response times could be longer depending on demand.

The OITECH site also includes a public, searchable question-and-answer knowledge base.  Once a request has been answered, it automatically gets added to the knowledge base.

Service Desk and Tech Depot - weekday and weekend hours

The Tech Depot and Service Desk will be available for telephone and walk-in support as follows.

  • Thursday, Sept 1, 2011
    • Tech Depot and Service Desk- 8 am to 5 pm

    • Tech Depot - 8 am to 7 pm
    • Service Desk - 8 am to 5 pm
  • Saturday, Sept 3, 2011
    • Tech Depot and Service Desk - 10 am to 4 pm
  • Sunday, Sept 4, 2011
    • Tech Depot and Service Desk - 10 am to 4 pm
  • Monday, Sept 5, 2011
    • University is closed
    • Limited telephone support only (see below)
  • Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011
    • Tech Depot and Service Desk - 8 am to 8 pm

Limited telephone support - after hours and holidays

Limited telephone support, including student password resets, is available after hours by calling 740-593-1222 and following the voice prompts. If a question cannot be answered by after hours staff, they will take a work request for the Service Desk.  Such requests normally receive a response on the next business day; however, response times could be longer during the first few days of the quarter.
