May 7 event looks at upcoming IT improvements and changes

New wireless, an updated Blackboard, web collaboration tools, a possible replacement for McAfee Virus Scan/Virex, and security topics like network registration, NESSUS scans, and personal encryption software all are on the agenda for the OIT's spring NextGen Information Session.

The event takes place in Baker Center 240 on May 7 between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Interested individuals are encouraged to stop by any time during those hours. OIT experts will be on hand to answer questions about:

• NextGen wireless upgrade
• Blackboard changes and new tools for fall semester
• C3T Web Collaboration tools
• Classroom Technologies
• Large File Transfer/Sharing tool
• New Web Services offerings
• New Tech Depot offerings

Security Topics

• Network registration
• Identity Finder and NESSUS scans
• PGP - encryption software to protect personal and research data
• Passwords and identity management
• RFP to choose an anti-virus provider for the university

An online chat session also will be available during the event to facilitate answering questions from off-campus and regional participants.
