Blackboard upgrade: Date Management makes copying courses easier

Monday, November 25, 2013

The Blackboard upgrade scheduled for summer 2014 will bring multiple changes to the way Blackboard looks and functions. This multi-part news series looks at those changes in detail. All current instructors of record can preview the new Blackboard by logging into https://bbtest.ohio.edu.

Screen shot Date Management in BlackboardIn older versions of Blackboard, adjusting due dates and availability dates after copying a course was a tedious, manual process. The summer 2014 version of Blackboard speeds that process up considerably.

Date Management allows you to modify all content and tool dates in a course from a single location. Automated adjustments can be made based on the new course start date, term start and end dates, or an arbitrary number of days. You also can view all of your start/end dates on a single page and adjust/approve each one.

Supported items include:

  • Content
  • Assessments
  • Tools
  • Manual grade columns
  • Course and organization tasks

To learn more about Date Management, view this video on Blackboard's YouTube channel or check out Blackboard's feature description page.
