Blackboard upgrade: Content Editor completely redesigned

The Blackboard upgrade scheduled for summer 2014 will bring multiple changes to the way Blackboard looks and functions. This multi-part news series looks at those changes in detail. All current instructors of record can preview the new Blackboard by logging into https://bbtest.ohio.edu.


Screen shot: Comparing simple and advacned mode toolbars with Content EditorFlexibility is the key word for Blackboard's completely redesigned Content Editor. This new version makes creating and editing items within Blackboard easier, more intuitive and more powerful.

Highlights include:

  • Copy and paste content from other sources, like Microsoft Word
  • Resize images while editing content
  • Add rich content by pulling in Mashups from YouTube, Flickr, SlideShare, Twitter and more...
  • Full-frame editing option gives you more screen space while creating content
  • New math equation editor, mathML (WIRIS), supports LaTeX
  • Simple and advanced mode toggle lets you decide how many features/commands are visible while editing
