Faculty, staff and students on the Athens campus already are beginning to reap the benefits of the NextGen network upgrade. Five buildings now have 100 Mbps to the desktop and single mode fiber optic connections back to the university's network core. These include:
- HDL Center
- Computer Services Center
- Smith House
- Jefferson Hall
- Martzolff House
Work currently is under way in Ellis Hall, Scripps Hall, and Lindley Hall.
Once the NextGen upgrade is completed, all buildings on all campuses will have 100 Mbps wired Ethernet to the desktop and high speed, single mode fiber optic connections to the campus network's core.
