iPhone Configuration version 2.0 or greater

  1. Before proceeding, Back Up and Sync your iPhone, then disconnect it from your computer.

  2. On the iPhone, go to Settings.

  3. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  4. Go to Add Account.

  5. From the list of account types, select Microsoft Exchange.

  6. On the following screen:

    Field Name: You Enter:

    Email OakID@ohio.edu

    Server mail.ohio.edu

    Domain ohio.edu

    Username your OakID

    Password your Oak password

  7. The Description field will default to the e-mail address you entered - you can leave that as the default.

  8. Click Next. There will be a delay while your iPhone talks to the server and checks these settings.

  9. Click Next.

  10. On/Off sliders for Mail, Contacts, and Calendars will appear. Verify the options you want to sync with your phone.

    WARNING
If you enable syncing with Contacts and Calendars, it WILL erase any set Contacts (a.k.a. address book, phone book, etc.) and Calendars you previously had on your phone! Be sure to back up your Contacts and Calendars BEFORE setting their sync sliders to On. The only exception to this appears to be for subscribers of Apple's MobileMe service. MobileMe subscribers will see both their MobileMe Contacts and Calendars AND Exchange Contacts and Calendars, as well as a "combined view" displaying both.
  11. Once you have verified your syncing options, click DONE.

You should now be able to access your Exchange e-mail under the iPhone Mail application. If you had already configured another e-mail account on your iPhone, you will need to click the back arrows located at the top-left of the Mail window to get out to the account selection screen. Contacts and Calendars are accessed separately, through their respective iPhone applications. After setup, allow a few minutes for the data for these to synchronize.
