Catmail upgrade has been postponed

Microsoft has postponed the May 18, 2013 Catmail upgrade.  At this point, we do not have an updated start date.  As soon as Microsoft provides one, we will update this page accordingly.  In the meantime, you still should make sure your Catmail and OHIO passwords match:

Here's what you need to do:

If your Catmail and OHIO passwords already match, you don't have to do anything.

If your Catmail and OHIO passwords don't match, you should sync them up BEFORE the upgrade begins. Here's how:

1. Log into catmail.ohio.edu.
2. Click "Options" near the top right of the page and choose "See all options..."
   
3. Click "Account" in the left hand column.
4. Click "Change your password" in the right hand column.
5. Click "Change your password" again in the account summary page.
6. For "New password," enter your OHIO password.
7. • Microsoft will not accept passwords longer than 16 characters. If your OHIO password is longer than 16 characters, you'll have to change it, too.
8. If you have Catmail set up on any mobile devices, you have two more steps:
9. 1. Update the stored password on your device(s).
   2. Make sure you are using the correct mobile settings.
      

Here's what you need to know:

1. Once Microsoft starts the upgrade, Catmail password resets, email forwarding updates, and other account management tasks will be temporarily unavailable. You'll still be able to log in. You just won't be able to change account settings until Microsoft completes the upgrade.
2. When the upgrade finishes a few days later, your Catmail password will automatically be synced with your OHIO ID password. The exact date will depend on how quickly Microsoft completes the upgrade.
   
3. Your email quota will increase from 10GB to 25 GB.
4. The OHIO logo at the top of your Catmail inbox will get replaced by a Microsoft Office 365 logo.
5. Forwarding settings will NOT be affected by this upgrade.
   
6. Other Microsoft Live services associated with your OHIO ID (Skydrive, Xbox Live, etc.) will become personal services, so you'll be able to set a separate password for them. To access Skydrive after the upgrade, visit https://skydrive.live.com/.
   

You don't have to sync your password in advance, but it will make life easier if you do. You could wait and let Microsoft sync it automatically, but if you have your password stored in something like a smartphone or tablet, then you'll lose Catmail access from that device until you update your password. So you might as well do it in advance.

Exchange email for graduate students, faculty, and staff is not affected by this change.
