We are receiving reports of some users getting sent back to the login screen repeatedly after entering their OHIO ID and password. Microsoft knows about this. In the meantime, you can try clearing your cache. If that doesn't work, try using Firefox or Chrome.
Microsoft has acknowledged that there is a bug with the new Catmail for some versions of Firefox. If you can't find the SEND button, try resizing your browser window. If that doesn't work, Option-S (Mac) or Alt-S (Windows) on your keyboard will send. Esc will cancel. Chrome and Safari do not seem to be affected by this bug.
Microsoft will be rolling out a new look and feel for Catmail as soon as 8 pm EST on Tue, Sep 10, 2013. If you currently are forwarding your mail elsewhere, this will not affect you.
Your university email address and the URL for checking Catmail will not change. Just be aware that your inbox and its associated menus will start to look more like Hotmail some time soon:
Microsoft will be applying the new look on a rolling basis over a period of several days. You can expect a single, brief email interruption while the new look gets applied to your account. Sorry, but we can't tell you exactly when your account will be updated, just that everyone should be completed by Wed, Sep 18 at the latest. If that changes, we will let you know.
If you have any questions, please contact the OIT Service Desk at 740-593-1222 or www.ohio.edu/oitech/.
In case you missed it over the summer, Microsoft upgraded Catmail and a few things have changed:
Use http://catmail.ohio.edu to log into Catmail - "outlook.com" or "live.com" will no longer work.
Use your OHIO password
If you check Catmail from your phone, make sure your mobile settings are correct.
The new version of Catmail sometimes keeps your web session active, even if you click the "sign out" link. The only way to guarantee you are signed out is to quit your browser completely. This is especially important if you are on a shared computer.
Beginning Saturday, Aug 17, 2013 messages sent to addresses that end in “@catmail.ohio.edu” will bounce back to the sender as undeliverable.
Addresses ending in “@ohio.edu” (email@example.com) are not affected. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and other non-OHIO email addresses also are not affected.
If you have been telling people that your university email address includes the word "catmail" (firstname.lastname@example.org), then you should ask your friends, family, instructors and online service providers to start using the email@example.com format.
Catmail itself is not changing, and you do not have to change the way you check your email. Just make sure your address is correct. Automated systems like Blackboard and My OHIO Student Center already use the correct form, so you don't have to worry about that.
If a message to a Catmail user bounces, try resending that message to the @ohio.edu version of that person’s address. If the message still bounces, contact the OIT Service Desk at 740-593-1222.
Catmail started using OHIO (formerly known as Oak) passwords on Thursday, July 11, 2013.
Undergraduates & Alumni will notice that the login page now is an Ohio University login instead of a Microsoft login: https://catmail.ohio.edu
If you have Catmail setup on your mobile device, or if you are using an email client like Microsoft Outlook, you may receive an error message if your Catmail password does not currently match your OHIO ID password.
If you do not remember your password, you can reset it by following the instructions at http://www.ohio.edu/oit/services/ohioid/passwordReset.cfm .
If you are unable to reset your password yourself, please visit our 24/7 customer service portal at www.ohio.edu/oitech or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with "Password reset – Catmail upgrade" in the subject line and your OHIO ID, name, and a contact number in the body of the message. Contact the OIT Service Desk 8:00am – 6:00pm Monday thru Friday at 740.593.1222 with any other questions.
Change your URLs!
If you're having trouble getting into Catmail, make sure you are using:
Do not use "outlook.com" or "live.com".
Close your browser to log out
The new version of Catmail sometimes will keep your session active, even if you click the "sign out" link. The only way to guarantee you are signed out is to quit your browser completely. This is especially important if you are on a shared computer.
As of July 11, 2013 you will use your OHIO password to login to Catmail. You will see the following changes:
Your email quota will increase from 10 GB to 25 GB.
The OHIO logo at the top of your Catmail inbox will get replaced by a Microsoft Office 365 logo.
Other Microsoft Live services associated with your OHIO ID (Skydrive, Xbox Live, etc.) will become personal services, so you'll be able to set a separate password for them. To access Skydrive after the upgrade, visit https://skydrive.live.com/.
If you are forwarding your Catmail, then this upgrade will not affect you. Exchange email for graduate students, faculty, and staff also is not affected by this change.
