OnBase: a Hyland Software solution

OnBase is Ohio University's Document Management application of choice. It is highly extensible, capable of serving both the small department as well as the university-wide application. Departments utilizing Imaging see gains in operating-efficiencies, materials reductions, and business continuity, as well as enhanced disaster recovery capabilities. Current version of OnBase is 10.0

Please use these General Guidelines for selecting an OnBase Client

Mac

users do not need to install a client. You may access OnBase by going to this URL:

Windows Windows

users will need a client installed on their computer. You may choose from one of the following OnBase clients:

Unity Client: PREFERRED CHOICE. Hyland's next generation OnBase client that combines the flexibility of a web client with the features and functionality of a thick client.
Instructions:
1. Download and run the Unity Prerequisite Check
2. Download and follow the Installation Instructions
3. Click link to Install Unity Client (Must use Internet Explorer to install Unity Client)
Thick Client: Use this client if you need to scan and/or batch index documents from your computer.
Instructions:
1. Download and run the Thick Client Installer
ActiveX Client: Use this client if you want to access OnBase using Internet Explorer. This client provides more functionality than the Java based client.
Instructions:
1. Download and follow the Installation Instructions
2. Download and run the ActiveX Client installer
Java Client: Use this client if you want to access OnBase using Firefox or Safari Web browsers. The Java based client does not need to be installed.
Instructions:
1. Download and run the Java Plug-in 6 Update 13
2. Goto https://docimage4.cats.ohiou.edu/onbase/javaclient to login

OnBase Virtual Print Driver:

The Virtual Print Driver (VPD) appears as a standard printer in Windows applications and enables users to electronically print documents directly into OnBase. Printing directly into OnBase saves the business cost of printing and then scanning documents. This functionlity requires the OnBase Unity or Thick client be installed on the local workstation.

To install the virtual print driver, download and install the following setup program: OnBase VPD Installer
