School of Telecommunications

General Information

Recognized as one of the strongest programs of its kind, Ohio University's School of Telecommunications is one of the largest electronic media programs in the United States. An Excellence Award and an Academic Challenge Award speak to the quality of instruction in the program.

Telecommunications involves a broad-based education that prepares students for careers in electronic media, including radio and television, cable, corporate media, and audio recording. On-campus opportunities for experience include a campus radio network, a video production unit, and WOUB AM-FM-TV. Internships also are available.

Students accepted into the program enter as "premajors," and select, in their junior year, one of four sequences: professional audio production, professional video production, professional management/administration, or comprehensive.

Please Note: if you are interested in studying broadcast newswriting, reporting, and anchoring--you should apply to the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, not to the School of Telecommunications.
