Students enrolled in the College of Fine Arts are a vital part of the cultural experience offered at Ohio University. Through year-round productions, student works invite the participation of both the campus and community.

    Degrees
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is granted for completion of programs in art, dance, theater, and visual communication, while the Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) is earned through the School of Music. Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degrees are also available.

Special Admission Requirements Applicants to the schools of Dance or Music must audition to gain admission. Audition appointments can be made throughout the year by contacting the main office of the program of your interest. Auditions can be used for both admission and scholarship consideration. In order for the audition to be used for scholarship consideration, applicants should have contacted both the program office and the appropriate Fine Arts Scholarship Committee to schedule the audition. Students who do not audition will be accepted as premajors, provided they meet the general university admission criteria.

Portfolios are not required for admission to the School of Art (although they may be submitted for scholarship consideration--contact the appropriate Fine Arts Scholarship Committee). All students enter as general art majors and apply to a specific major late in the sophomore year. At that time, a portfolio review is required.

    Special Programs and Opportunities
Every student in the College of Fine Arts is strongly encouraged to participate in art exhibits, recitals, concerts, plays, and internships. A strong visiting artists program complements the overall experience, as professional performers and scholars add to the instructional mix for students.
