1970sSteve Iseman, BFA '70, and his wife, Sue, recently presented a workshop, "The Art of Letter Writing," to 500 government employees in Indianapolis. Steve Iseman is an associate professor of communication and public relations at Ohio Northern University. The Isemans have lived on a farm near Greenfield, Ohio, for 25 years.James Kearns, BSCH '70, recently joined Eastpoint Communications Inc. in Fairborn, Ohio, as director of strategy and business consulting. Larry Lattig, BA '70, was named a partner in the professional services firm KPMG, based in Dallas. Allen Merriam, MA '70, PHD '72, had his book "America in Person: People of the Year, 1776-2000" published in May. The book offers a unique portrait of American history by describing a significant individual for each year. Gail Ghetia Bellamy, AB '71, had a chapbook of her poems, "Victual Reality," published recently by Pudding House Publications. She lives in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Michael Dillon, BSJ '71, MA '73, is president of Seepex Inc. He has been affiliated with Seepex since 1989 and previously served as general manager and vice president. Paula Forma, BSED '71, retired from Midview Local School District after teaching third grade for 30 years. She lives in Lorain, Ohio. Peter Fromm, BFA '71, is the author and publisher of "Whale Tales: Human Interactions with Whales, Volumes 1 and 2." Fromm shares tales of human interaction with whales, dolphins and porpoises through storytelling, slide and video presentations. Mary Alice Murley Miller, BSED '71, was named director of development for the Columbus College of Art & Design. Sue Ellen Goormastic Pytlak, BSED '71, of Palm City, Fla.; Roberta "Bobbi" Kasproski, BSED '71, of Cromwell, Conn.; and Susan Magyar Mitchell, BSED '70, MED '71, of Columbus, celebrated a 30-year reunion by touring England and France for 16 days. Amy Camardese, BSED '72, recently joined the faculty of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., as an instructor of education. Lenny Frieling, BGS '72, a criminal defense attorney and associate judge in Boulder, Colo., is part of the legal team for Fox TV's reality court TV show, "Power of Attorney." Marcia Clark, Christopher Darden and other nationally prominent lawyers also are involved. "It's a total kick in the pants," Frieling says of his participation in the show, "and a good laugh in a time of great need for a good laugh." Karen Moore, BA '72, was elected treasurer of the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association's Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section. She is a partner in the Columbus law firm of Bricker & Eckler. Paul Young, BMUS '72, MM '73, PHD '92, principal of West Elementary School in Lancaster, Ohio, is president-elect of the National Association of Elementary School Principals. He will begin a one-year term as president in July. Young has been an adjunct professor of music at Ohio University-Lancaster since 1982 and is vice president of the School of Music Society of Alumni and Friends. Ronald Bylicki, BSME '73, was promoted to national industrial sales manager for Parker Hannifin Corp. Hydraulic Group. He has been in industrial sales for 22 years. He resides in North Canton, Ohio, with his wife, Maria Grueser Bylicki, BSHE '72, and two children, one of whom is a senior at Ohio University. Jan Cunningham Hodson, BSHE '73, MSHC '96, is assistant dean of Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College. Diane Heller Klein, BSHS '73, is an associate professor and program director of education of persons with hearing loss at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also is a regional grant director and co-author of a book about speech for deaf children that will be released this year. Marilyn Forma Ruben, BSED '73, and her husband, Bruce, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Shelley Westerhold Smith, BSED '73, was named 2001 Elementary Physical Educator of the Year by the Missouri Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She has taught for 10 years with the Rockwood School District Gifted Program in St. Louis. Terry Etter, BSC '74, and his wife, Saralee, had a son, Clayton Thomas Etter, in February 2001. Terry Etter is an Ohio Consumers' Counsel attorney, and the family lives in Pataskala, Ohio. Karl Kroeck, AB '74, is chair of the Department of Management and International Business at Florida International University in Miami. Roger Nasci, BS '74, MS '76, recently received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences. He is a research entomologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Fort Collins, Colo. Jody Carter Stauffer, BSED '74, recently received the Pillar of Parkway Award from the Parkway School District in St. Louis, where she directs the alternative discipline center. The award recognizes excellence of character, performance, leadership and extraordinary service. Lou Allin, PHD '75, a professor at a community college in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, had a book, "Northern Winters are Murder," published in 2000 as part of a murder mystery set in Northern Ontario. Robert Chirdon, BSJ '75, is vice president and general manager of WTOL-TV in Toledo. He and his wife, Kathleen Brehm Chirdon, BSJ '75, live in Maumee, Ohio. Christopher Griffin, BFA '75, received the 2001 Ohio State University Distinguished Staff Award. He is an office associate in the university's English Department and lives in Bexley, Ohio. Robert VanDervort, AB '75, is the United States magistrate judge for the Southern District of West Virginia at Bluefield and Beckley. He has a 10-year-old son and lives in Elkview, W.Va. Robert Ellis, BFA '76, wrote "Access To Power," a political thriller published in August. He has been a media consultant with The Campaign Group Inc. for more than 10 years and has written and produced more than 1,000 commercials for political candidates, including former Vice President Al Gore. He lives in Glendale, Calif. Mark Palkovic, BMUS '76, AB '78, was appointed head music librarian at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music Library, where he has worked since 1981. Mark Silverman, MAIA '76, a longtime foreign service officer with the Agency for International Development, is a senior foreign service officer and director of the USAID Mission in El Salvador. He and wife, Andrea, who studied linguistics at Ohio University, have been married for 27 years and have two children attending the University of Virginia. Steve Hammons, BGS '77, is the author of "Mission Into Light," which is available in paperback and as an e-book. The book takes readers on adventures involving ESP, dolphin intelligence, pole shifts and Native American legends. Hammons lives in Pioria, Ariz. Dannette Render, BSHS '77, recently was honored in Washington, D.C., with a 2001 Fifty Influential Minorities in Business Award. Render is president and CEO of DAR Public Relations Inc. in Beachwood, Ohio. Jon Smith, BSED '77, is assistant athletic director and head athletic trainer for Broome Community College in Binghamton, N.Y. He lives in Vestal, N.Y., with his wife, Lisa, and son, Phil. Cheryl Forma, AB '78, has returned to Ohio after living and working in Hawaii for 13 years. She lives in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. Nancy Haag, AB '78, recently received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences. Haag is vice president and western region manager for the Archon Group, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs & Co., where she recently became the first female partner. Frances Bauer Morrow, BSED '78, MED '82, was named director of special education for Bexley (Ohio) City Schools after 15 years in a similar post with Miami Trace Local and Washington Court House City school districts. She and her husband, Bill, and daughters, Lauren and Kristen, live in Grove City, Ohio. Jerry Snider, BSC '78, published a book, "Going the Distance, My Run to the Son: The Spiritual Path of a Christian," in 2000. He is employed in Hospital Services with the American Red Cross and lives in Lancaster, Ohio. Steven Jagers, BBA '79, left Kroger Food Stores after a 30-year career in retailing, advertising and marketing to become co-owner, senior partner and president of JA&G Advertising Inc. in Cincinnati. Janis Baker Jones, BS '79, and her husband, Jeffrey Jones, BS '81, recently received Distinguished Alumni Awards from Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences. He is founder, president and CEO of Great Northern Consulting Services in Columbus; she is director and co-owner of the firm. The couple live in Westerville, Ohio. |
