Keeping a sharp focus on research

Ever wonder what goes on in the laboratories of Ohio University's scientists, engineers and other researchers? A new television series available on the Web offers a look at the wide variety of research under way at the University, highlighting topics from dinosaurs to the environment to headaches.

    Science Spotlight

"Science Spotlight," a video news feature on the University's scientific innovations, debuted on WOUB, Ohio University Public Television, in September. The first episode focused on paleontologist Lawrence Witmer, who examines how the facial features of dinosaurs helped them breathe, eat and survive.

In parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky, viewers can watch the series on WOUB's evening news program, "Newswatch," which airs from 6:30 to 7 p.m. weekdays. "Science Spotlight" appears the third Wednesday of every month from September to May.

The programs are online at www.ohiou.edu/sciencespotlight/. The Web site includes further information about the research projects as well as links to related stories and other sites. "Science Spotlight" is a collaboration involving WOUB, the Office of Research Communications and University Communications and Marketing.
