1980s

Laura Gongos, BSJ '80, was named the 1997 Renaissance Communicator by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She is executive vice president-managing director of Burson-Marstellar in Pittsburgh.

Gary Pluchino, MSA '80, has been appointed vice president of worldwide sports marketing for Carlson Marketing Group, an event marketing specialist headquartered in Minneapolis.

Michael C. Vaughn, BSJ '81, is public affairs manager of Ford Motor Co. Vehicle Operations. He is responsible for worldwide public relations strategy for Ford's 67 automotive stamping and assembly plants. He lives in Milford, Mich.

Eric H. Witte, BSC '82, is director and manager of the Widewater Retreat and Ministry Center in Henry County in Northwestern Ohio.

J. Mark Jackson, BSJ '84, is advertising manager for private and associated brands of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. in Findlay. A Cooper employee since 1994, Jackson spent five years in the U.S. Army.

Joyce M. Johnson, BSC '84, is director of marketing and communications for Family Services, a not-for-profit organization in the Akron area that assists families through a teen-aged parents center, family and consumer counseling, and adoption and senior services.

George David Miller, MA '84, associate professor and director of the graduate program in philosophy at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., has published his third book, Negotiating Toward Truth: The Extinction of Teachers and Students.

James S. Milliken, BBA '84, was named product manager of die sets for Superior Die Set Corp. in Oak Creek, Wis.

David K. Handal, BSISE '85, MS '87, is vice president of information systems and technology for OM Group Inc., a leading producer of value-added, metal-based specialty chemicals head-quartered in Cleveland.

Rev. Randy Hardman, BSC '85, graduated with a doctor of ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton in May 1996. He is ordained in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church and is senior minister at Somerset United Methodist Church. He also serves on the Newark District Council on Ministries and the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.

Renee Lessig, BBA '85, has been promoted to vice president-director of accounting at Fahlgren Inc. She manages the accounting department at the agency's Parkersburg, W.Va., office.

Susan Daugherty Tester, BSRS '85, of Norwalk has been named executive director of Serving Our Seniors (SOS Inc.), a new organization in Erie County. Formerly, she was personnel director of Huron County's Services for the Aging.

Nasseef Abukamail, BSEE '86, MS '88, is included in the fourth edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1996. He has been an assistant professor of computer science at the University of Rio Grande since 1991.

Lynnette Clouse, BS '86, is an interior designer with the Facilities Planning Office at Ohio University in Athens. She formerly was an associate at Fanning-Howey Architects in Dublin.

David Carlson, BSJ '87, is public relations specialist for VOCA, a Dublin company which provides services across 10 states and the District of Columbia for people with mental retardation and other disabilities. He and his wife, Lynn Irmiter Carlson, BSJ '88, a spokesperson for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, live in Columbus.

Margaret Riley, MA '87, PHD '91, has joined the Western Michigan University Office of International Affairs staff as director of study abroad.

Damon A. Burris, MA '88, is author of Doin' It: A Guide to Great Sex, published by Goatee Graphics, San Francisco, 1997. The book is a whimsical and humorous list book about sex. He lives in San Francisco.

Linda Haas, BSJ '88, MED '92, is assistant director for college housing at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is involved in departmental training and development for staff and students.

Mario Menesse, BBA '88, MBA '90, is manager of property and casualty audits at Nationwide Insurance headquarters in Columbus. He previously was regional underwriting manager in Pittsburgh and district claims manager in Canton.

Margaret Morey-Reuner, BSPE '89, MSA '90, is managing director of Mastro Communications, a public relations and promotions firm based in Scotch Plains, N.J. She is managing several national accounts.

Heidi Tracy, BSJ '89, began her new duties in April as assistant dean for development in Ohio University's College of Communication, where she oversees fund-raising efforts and works with faculty on program development. She joined the campus staff in August 1995 as assistant dean for development in the College of Education.
