Dennis Jankowski, BSED '70, BSJ '70, is CEO of the Mary Black HealthNetwork in Spartanburg, S.C., the area's largest and oldest managed care company with 90,000 members.

Stephen Jenkins, BFA '71, is an oil painting teacher with the Baker-Hunt Foundation in Covington, Ky. His works have been exhibited at the Feinman Gallery in New York, the Closson Art Gallery in Cincinnati and the Cain Art Gallery in Chicago and Michigan.

Howard J. Alspach Jr., BSJ '72, founder of Free Paper Publisher, a monthly publication for free newspapers, sold his company to Editor & Publisher Co., publisher of Editor & Publisher magazine. Alspach remains publisher while working in Lancaster.

Cynthia Belar, MS '72, PHD '74, was named the 1996 winner of the award for Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology from the American Psychological Association. Belar is professor and director of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of Florida Health Science Center.

Karen M. Moore, BA '72, is one of 700 lawyers from Ohio chosen for The Best Lawyers in America, 1997-98, the result of a year-long survey conducted by two Harvard-trained attorneys and a team of pollsters. She was selected in the trusts and estates area. She works with Bricker & Eckler in Columbus.

Harry T. Prestanski, BSJ '72, is vice president and general manager for the Cincinnati office of Guthrie/Mayes Public Relations. The firm is based in Louisville, Ky. Prestanski has 25 years of experience in corporate communications, marketing, and community and legislative relations.

James L. Block, BSJ '73, has been named general manager of U.S. marketing and sales for Hasbro Inc., a designer and manufacturer of toys, games and infant care products. Block works in Pawtucket, R.I.

Frank Robertson, BSC '73, is sports anchor for WTVT-TV, Ch. 13, in Tampa, Fla.

Ken Walker, BSJ '73, free-lance writer and publicity consultant, co-wrote his second guidebook for church leaders, Ultimate Warriors: Dare to Shake Your World for Christ. He resides in Louisville, Ky., with his wife, Janet.

Vernon Sykes, BBA '74, an eighth-term Ohio House of Representatives member from Akron, was appointed to the Council of State Governments Midwestern Legislative Conference's Economic Development and Interstate Cooperation Committee. The committee is designed to bring Mid-western legislators together to discuss economic development strategies.

David A. Wells, BSJ '74, is local news editor for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Wells joined the Enquirer in 1974 and also has served as assistant metro editor and projects editor.

Ralph Fuhr, BSJ '75, is operations manager at the Northern New England office of the software services company Keane Inc. Fuhr, who works in the Information Services Division in Bedford, N.H., is responsible for managing consulting resources and consulting services, and supporting new business development.

Ted Schwalbe, BS '75, received a Fulbright Award for lecture-research at the American University in Bulgaria. Schwalbe, chairman of the Communication Department at SUNY College at Fredonia (N.Y.), has conducted several media training projects over the past few years in Eastern Europe and Africa.

William Scott Lavelle, BSJ '77, has been named a partner at the Columbus law firm of Lane, Alton & Horst. He joined the firm in 1990. Lavelle recently wrote and published a book, Ohio Tort Reform 1996, which analyzes the state's new tort reform law.

W. Michael Sherman, BSED '77, was appointed director of the School of Physical Activity and Educational Services at Ohio State University's College of Education. He is in his 11th year as a professor focusing his research on carbohydrate metabolism and ways to improve athletic performance. He is co-editor-in-chief for the International Journal of Sports Medicine.

Robin P. Hand, BSED '78, was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio. He is an engineering liaison coordinator for American Electric Power in Columbus and teaches part-time at Columbus State Community College. He lives in Worthington.

Ann C. McLean, BSC '79, is head of the new sales office for the graphic design firm of Beatley Gravitt Communications in Tysons Corner, Va.

Bob Perman, BFA '79, is vice president and associate creative director at Rockett, Burkhead, Lewis & Winslow Advertising in Raleigh, N.C. One of his ads for the Volvo GM Heavy Truck was selected as the national winner of "Best Spread Ad" in the Creative Excellence in Business Advertising Awards held in New York.
