Rodney Hood

Math Mentor's Assistance Added Up

The professor I would select as my favorite is also the one who had the most influence on my life. I started at Ohio University with physics as my major and left with a major in mathematics and a minor in philosophy because of Dr. Rodney Hood (assistant professor of mathematics).

I had many courses from him in the late '50s and early '60s, and he definitely inspired me and shaped my life. After graduation, I continued to remain in contact with him. He suggested books to read to help me when I began teaching. Thirty years later I retired from teaching in Miami, Fla. I would never forgive myself if I did not nominate him for my favorite professor and, in some small way, repay him for what he did for me.
