Steve HaysHe Set the Standard Steve Hays, (associate) professor of ancient Greek and Greek mythology, was my favorite professor in college. I started out taking ancient Greek to get my language requirement over quickly and to have a small-sized class somewhere on my freshman roster, but I was so impressed by Steve's passion for learning and teaching that I continued taking classes that he taught. I think I eventually took most of the classes he taught. It also started a habit of mine to take classes from good teachers regardless of what they taught. It wasn't just Greek studies that Steve was teaching. He taught me how to think critically and see things from other perspectives. He was never too busy for his students to stop in his office and discuss ideas, and I think some of my most meaningful lessons in college were learned at that time. There aren't too many people in the world you can say made you a different and better person for knowing them. Steve is one of those people. Thanks, Steve! Wendi
