Just talking shop Former presidents share stories and memories with you
In February, Ohio Today editors had the opportunity to conduct a roundtable discussion with all three living presidents emeriti: Vernon Alden, Charles Ping and Robert Glidden. Though they talked at length about the university they once helmed -- expressing their hopes for its future and pride in its past -- they seemed most eager to tell stories about the people who make Ohio so great. Alumni, students, faculty and staff, you are the ones who make this place so memorable, they said, and the institution's continued success depends on you.
We reproduced a portion of the conversation in the fall issue of Ohio Today. A lengthier transcript of the conversation can be found below. Each section addresses a different topic the former presidents discussed. Enjoy!
Section 1: Alumni involvement Section 2: Favorite memories Section 3: National prominence Section 4: Advice to alumni Section 5: The university’s future Section 6: Presidential legacies Section 7: A new alumni house Section 8: Affinity for Athens
Click here to e-mail Ohio Today a question to one (or all) of the three former presidents. Answers will be posted on Ohio Today Online or shared in a future issue of the magazine.
